Multi-Use Event and Workspace Fit-Out with Mezzanine & Structural Upgrades
The project involved creating a bespoke multi-use event and workspace, with design playing a key role in enhancing the architectural details of the existing building while ensuring functional requirements were met. Repair works included installing new floor joists throughout the build, and a new mezzanine was added to create a modern workplace environment with space for an existing architectural model.
Budget and speed were critical due to funding constraints, requiring design, cost, and build to work efficiently together to achieve completion within the set parameters. Programme management was essential to coordinate long-lead items and maintain momentum throughout the project.
New mechanical systems were installed across existing and new spaces, with design carefully managed to remain sensitive to architectural details. Routes were coordinated to align with existing external penetrations, ensuring functionality without compromising aesthetics.
Solution
Budget and design were critical and had to work together through material choices with minimal compromises, while still achieving correct fire rating and building control requirements.
Collaborative working—from joinery detailing and structural requirements to mechanical services—was essential to meet speed and budget targets for the project.
Programme and logistics management for long-lead items were key, providing clear direction on priority areas and ensuring synchronization throughout the build duration.
Clear communication with the client was paramount, enabling timely decisions and keeping the programme and expectations on track.
